The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has awarded Fujifilm Healthcare Americas Corporation a $10-million contract to provide its advanced surgical C-arm systems to military medical facilities.
The technology, known as the Persona C mobile fluoroscopy system, is a C-shaped machine that uses continuous X-ray beams to generate real-time images of a patient’s body. Under the terms of the agreement with the DLA, the Massachusetts-based firm will supply its C-arm systems to multiple sites overseen by the US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
Following installation, these devices will assist military medical professionals in a wide array of diagnostic imaging tasks and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Deliveries and outfitting of the systems are scheduled to take place over four years, beginning in the first quarter of 2025.
Fujifilm noted that the US government’s selection of its C-arm platform followed a thorough evaluation process that included a detailed comparison against other similar devices available on the market. Benchmarks used in the evaluation included factors such as functionality, adaptability, service support infrastructure, and cybersecurity compliance, with Fujifilm ultimately being recognized as the primary partner that satisfied and exceeded the military’s stringent requirements.
“Fujifilm is honored yet again to receive a multi-year federal award from the Defense Logistics Agency. This demonstrates the high level of trust military officials place in our cutting-edge technologies to care for our nation’s service members,” said Lou Cavallaro, Federal Government Business Senior Director at Fujifilm Healthcare Americas. “This achievement speaks volumes about Fujifilm’s ongoing commitment to constructing high-quality diagnostic imaging solutions designed to improve patient outcomes.”
This contract builds on Fujifilm’s established partnership with the US military. In 2024, the enterprise’s flagship mammographic imaging workstation was approved for military use. Earlier, in 2023, the company secured clearance to operate its cloud-based medical data storage solution across various applications for US defense customers. Prior to that, in 2021, Fujifilm signed a similar DLA contract to deploy C-arm solutions for military treatment facilities.
