Enugu to Host Inaugural Tech Festival Featuring Global Tech Giants
Enugu State will host the inaugural Enugu Tech Festival, a four-day event bringing together leaders from the global technology industry. The festival, themed “COAL to CODE,” will take place from May 6 to May 9, 2025, at the International Conference Centre in Enugu.

According to Lawrence Ezeh, the commissioner for innovation, science, and technology, executives from prominent companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft will participate in the festival. Ezeh, speaking to journalists in Enugu on Tuesday, emphasized the event’s goal of transforming the state’s technology ecosystem and boosting its standing as a major tech hub in West Africa.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the Enugu State Tech and Startup Ecosystem and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology. It aims to foster innovation, support tech startups, and inspire young professionals in the tech industry. The event will include rallies, panel sessions, networking opportunities, and exhibitions.
Mr. Ezeh anticipates 10,000 attendees, including founders of established tech companies, startup enthusiasts, tech investors, students, graduates, and tech policymakers. The commissioner noted that the festival would provide a platform for the public to engage with local innovators, showcasing Enugu’s expanding tech presence.
“There will be thought-provoking speaking engagements and insightful addresses on the future of technology and innovation by the governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and other key leaders from the tech ecosystem,” Ezeh stated. “Panel discussions will highlight the importance of tech innovation, startup funding and the vision for the West Africa Stargate initiative, as well as building a sustainable tech ecosystem in Enugu.”
He added, “There will be a town hall meeting where stakeholders and heads of tertiary institutions will discuss strategies for tech education and growth in the state, country and West African region.”
