Health Technology Excellence Award Winners
The Health Technology Excellence Award is presented annually to ECRI member institutions that demonstrate exceptional initiatives in health technology management. These initiatives must improve patient safety, reduce costs, or facilitate better strategic management of health technology.
2025 Award Winner: Prisma Health
Prisma Health in Greenville, SC, won the 19th Health Technology Excellence Award for its comprehensive approach to improving technology infrastructure. The project supported the organization’s expansion, improved workflow for healthcare providers, and safeguarded care during outages. When Hurricane Helene struck in September 2024, Prisma Health’s proactive efforts allowed it to continue providing care while other organizations experienced major outages.

- 2024: Clinica Imbanaco, Cali, Colombia, for strengthening health technology management
- 2023: Guthrie Clinic, Sayre, PA, for using AI-enhanced video technology to address staffing shortages
- Runner-Up 2023: Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality for improving safety-event-reporting systems
- 2022: McLaren Northern Michigan for integrating patient-centric technologies
- 2021: Mon Health System for providing opportunities for technology innovation
- 2020: Lower Mainland Biomedical Engineering & Vancouver Coastal Health for a joint investigation into overinfusion incidents
Other notable finalists include Einstein Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Previous winners have implemented innovative solutions such as AI-enhanced technologies, improved data analysis dashboards, and automated inventory management systems.
