Request for Information on Digital Health and Interoperability
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC) issued a request for information (RFI) on May 13, 2025, seeking input from various stakeholders on digital health products, data interoperability, and the broader national infrastructure for health technology.
The RFI aims to gather feedback from patients, healthcare providers, technology developers, payers, and other stakeholders on several topics, including:
- How CMS and ASTP/ONC can drive greater adoption of digital health management and care navigation applications
- Barriers preventing the seamless exchange of health information across systems
- Ways to reduce administrative burden
- Accelerating progress towards value-based care
The RFI also poses questions related to information blocking, price transparency, prior authorization, and quality measurement policies. Comments are being accepted through June 16, 2025.
