Himax, Tata Electronics, and PSMC Partner to Advance Semiconductor Ecosystem in India
TAINAN and HSINCHU, Taiwan, MUMBAI, India – March 5, 2025 – Himax Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: HIMX), a leading fabless display driver IC provider, has formed a strategic alliance with Tata Electronics, a key player in India’s electronics manufacturing sector, and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), a Taiwanese foundry and technology transfer partner.
This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to reshape India’s display and ultralow power AI sensing product and technology landscape. The partnership leverages the combined expertise of these companies to capitalize on the rapidly expanding market for display semiconductors and AI sensing technologies in India and globally.
The core objective is to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for their customers. This includes: chip design, manufacturing, packaging, and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) to provide system-level solutions. A particular focus will be placed on “Made in India” requirements, as well as designing and manufacturing next-generation solutions for the global market, while improving supply chain resilience.
The partnership builds upon the 2024 agreement between Tata Electronics and PSMC, establishing semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India, and paving the way for innovative display solutions tailored to the domestic market.
