Hong Kong is strategically positioning itself as a global hub for medical and health industries, with a strong focus on technology and innovation. The city offers world-class research and development infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and favorable policies designed to attract companies in these sectors.

Last year, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu unveiled a series of initiatives, as part of the annual policy address, to support Hong Kong’s transformation into an international center for health and medical innovation.
Businesses in Hong Kong are already playing a vital role in providing healthcare services to partners around the world, utilizing the city’s strategic position as a platform for China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). This initiative aims to encourage collaboration among participating countries in areas like trade, infrastructure, innovation, and healthcare.
Two companies leading the way in global healthcare collaboration are Modern Dental Group and Insilico Medicine.
Modern Dental Group, a provider and distributor of dental prosthetic devices, was established in Hong Kong in 1986. The company has expanded to include operations in mainland China, Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa. In 2023, Modern Dental Group reached the milestone of providing services to 2 million patients.
The company is using Hong Kong’s unique advantage as a gateway between China and the world to grow its business. Recent expansions include the acquisition of Hexa Ceram Dental Laboratory, one of Thailand’s largest dental laboratories, as well as the opening of a production facility in Vietnam. These new facilities have enabled Modern Dental Group to offer dental prosthetics at more affordable prices.
