Hong Kong employers are actively seeking to fill over 2,000 artificial intelligence (AI) positions as the city strives to solidify its position as an innovation and technology hub. The demand for AI professionals is evident in the upcoming Cyberport Career Fair, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

According to the organizers, approximately 70 per cent of the recruiters attending the event are specifically looking to hire AI professionals. The fair will host over 580 organizations, encompassing a diverse range of entities from startups and tech companies to government departments, and established firms such as Hang Seng Bank and Centaline Property.
Ricky Choi, the smart-living director at Cyberport, noted that almost 60 per cent of the available positions are related to AI applications. He emphasized the shift in focus, with the smart-living industry representing 67 per cent of the participating employers this year. Smart living encompasses various sectors, including environmental, retail, health, robotics, the Internet of Things, and education technologies.
Choi highlighted the education technology sector’s significant contribution, accounting for 29 per cent of the job openings, the largest share among various industries. This surge in demand reflects the growing importance of AI talent in Hong Kong’s booming tech landscape. Digital job platform TechJobAsia reported that one in three professionals in Hong Kong is considering transitioning to AI-related careers, highlighting the substantial interest and career shift taking place.
