Huawei and JAC Launch Maextro: Targeting the High-End EV Market
Maextro, a new car brand co-created by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), is setting its sights on the ultra-luxury vehicle market. The upcoming Maextro S800 sedan represents the brand’s inaugural model and is generating significant buzz.
The Maextro S800, unveiled in November 2024, has already begun pre-sales. The official launch date is yet to be announced.

The estimated price is between RMB 1 million ($137,000 USD) and RMB 1.5 million. Interested customers can reserve a model with a RMB 20,000 deposit.
The S800 will be offered in both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) configurations. Furthermore, the car will come in both 4- and 5-seat versions, catering to different consumer preferences.
Technical Specifications and Upcoming Events
Data from regulatory filings indicates the EREV and BEV models will share matching dimensions: 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a 3,370 mm wheelbase.
To build excitement before the official launch, Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business will host a technology event focused on the Maextro brand. The event kicks off on February 20th at 2:30 PM Beijing Time. The event will likely showcase the cutting-edge technology integrated into the Maextro S800. Huawei is also working on a fifth brand tentatively named Shangjie with SAIC Motor.
Maextro’s Place in Huawei’s Automotive Strategy
Maextro represents the fourth brand Huawei has created with a local car manufacturer and is positioned as the highest-end brand under Huawei’s HIMA initiative.
The other brands under the HIMA umbrella are Stelato (with BAIC Group), Aito (with Seres Group), and Luxeed (with Chery).
Maextro’s factory, located in Hefei, Anhui province (JAC’s headquarters), officially opened on December 16th, last year, signaling the brand’s commitment to production and expansion.
This new brand demonstrates Huawei’s increasing influence in the electric vehicle market.
