Our mission is to enhance access to care and ensure people-centered healthcare delivery by bringing cutting-edge innovations and technology to healthcare providers, systems, payers, and patients within the Medicaid ecosystem.
We identify and support innovative solutions that can be scaled to drive significant improvements in California’s healthcare system. This enables all Californians to receive the care they need promptly. Our investment strategies are aligned with the priorities set by our grantmakers. We focus on supporting technology solutions developed by individuals from the communities they serve, as they possess a deeper understanding of the specific challenges faced by their communities.
The Innovation Fund is dedicated to fostering innovative healthcare solutions and promoting equity through targeted investments in companies that reflect the diverse population served by Medi-Cal. Some examples of our work include supporting startups like Motivo Health, which is addressing the shortage of licensed therapists in California. Other investments include Samaritan, which is developing digital tools for people experiencing homelessness, and Sanarai, which is providing culturally resonant care. We also support initiatives that connect Spanish-speaking individuals with mental health providers who understand their cultural background.
