Indian Startups Urge Parliamentary Panel to Protect Innovation
Startups and tech product companies in India have requested a parliamentary panel to increase the threshold for ex ante (preventive) regulations, ensuring they don’t stifle innovation. The panel has sought suggestions from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs regarding views presented by Indian online players on the proposed bill.
The bill, inspired by the European Union framework, aims to regulate large digital companies and curb anti-competitive practices in online businesses. According to sources, Indian tech companies are concerned that overly stringent regulations could hamper their growth and innovation capabilities.

The parliamentary panel is currently reviewing the bill and considering various stakeholder inputs. The outcome of this review is expected to have significant implications for India’s digital landscape and its growing startup ecosystem.
As the Indian government continues to navigate the complex balance between regulation and innovation, the tech industry remains watchful, advocating for policies that foster growth while ensuring fair competition.
