Israeli Mental Health Tech Sector on the Rise

TEL AVIV, Israel, March 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Startup Nation Central, in collaboration with the ICAR organization (Israel’s Collective Action for Resilience) and Bezyl, has released the 2025 landscape map of Israeli technology companies in the mental health field. The map showcases technological solutions developed in Israel to address mental health challenges, offering support for trauma recovery, strengthening personal and social resilience, and expanding access to mental health treatments.

This comprehensive resource highlights approximately 120 companies dedicated to providing solutions for various mental health needs. The initiative aims to expand access to tailored mental health solutions in response to increased demand, particularly considering the period following the October 7 events.

This map is a central component of a multifaceted project led by the ICAR Collective, a group focused on developing and scaling trauma rehabilitation solutions, leveraging both scientific research and technological advancements.

Investment and Growth in Mental Health Technology

According to data from the Startup Nation Finder platform, 2024 saw a notable increase in investor confidence and funding within mental health technology, rebounding from a dip in 2023. The sector experienced a substantial recovery in 2024, with private funding increasing by 66% to $123 million. This demonstrates a robust revival of investor interest and the sector’s resilience.

A significant 85% of mental health technology startups are in their early development stages—a higher percentage than the broader health sector average of 65%. This highlights a period of significant growth and emphasizes the ongoing need for financial support to expand offerings and deepen research efforts in the field.

Key Sub-fields in Mental Health Technology

The map explores key sub-fields within the mental health sector and classifies them into four main categories:

    • Self-Care: Tools and technologies that enable individuals to proactively manage their mental health.
    • Mental Health Research: Innovations focusing on early diagnosis, personalized psychiatry, and machine learning technologies.
    • Managed Care Platforms: Systems that facilitate connections between patients and therapists through digital or hybrid solutions.
    • Workflow Automation: AI-based solutions designed to reduce administrative burdens and enhance therapeutic efficiency.

    Addressing Israel’s Mental Health Crisis

Despite economic and security challenges, 2024 marked a year of strategic partnerships and technological advancements in mental health. The accelerated project growth, together with renewed investor confidence, suggests substantial expansion potential for Israel’s mental health ecosystem, especially in trauma care and related activities to build resilience within broader communities.

Addressing Israel’s mental health crisis requires coordinated and immediate action to fully utilize technology and innovation in this field. Key steps include:

    • Expanding digital treatment options by integrating AI and automation within both legislation and national health policy.
    • Intensifying public information campaigns and trauma awareness through digital psychoeducational programs and community initiatives.
    • Focusing on early identification of mental health trends using data analytics to prevent crises from escalating.
    • Increasing investments in both established and emerging startups to support research, development, and broad implementation of existing solutions.
    • Fostering international collaborations, leveraging Israeli expertise in trauma care to assist communities affected by conflict, disasters, and mass-casualty events.
