The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) recently hosted its Innovation Exchange Pitch, bringing together 11 local tech companies to showcase their capabilities to corporate leaders, government officials, and JAMPRO’s leadership team. The event, held at JAMPRO’s New Kingston offices on June 18, aimed to raise awareness about Jamaican tech companies’ innovative solutions for both local and international markets.
Event Objectives and Outcomes
Addressing the opening ceremony, JAMPRO President Shullette Cox explained that the initiative provided direct access to local business and industry leaders while highlighting the importance of promoting Jamaican tech services both locally and internationally. “We started working closely with the tech industry in 2023 when we launched our Technology Innovation District (TID) Accelerator Project,” Cox stated. “For the JAMPRO team, it has been a learning process in understanding Jamaica’s tech industry and its needs.”
The Pitch also sought to promote greater collaboration between public and private-sector firms and Jamaican tech businesses. Cox noted that the emergence of the local tech industry marked a departure from traditional products associated with the Jamaican brand. “There are many Jamaican companies that don’t know what our tech companies are doing,” she added. “This is an opportunity for our private-sector partners, public-sector partners, and JAMPRO team to learn more about Jamaica’s technology industry offerings.”

Founder and CEO of Resolve IT Limited, Almando Cox, told JIS News that while the Government and local companies currently utilize local tech talent, more can be done to promote and deepen these relationships. “This kind of awareness, connection, and networking will go a long way to enlighten the community, sectors, and leaders that these technology and solution providers exist,” he said. “I welcome this collaboration so we can connect tech solution providers with leaders and other stakeholders.”
The Pitch was hosted by JAMPRO’s Export Max Programme, designed to address critical gaps in understanding Jamaica’s tech sector. By providing a platform for Jamaican tech firms to showcase their services, the event aimed to foster new business opportunities and create deeper engagement with the local market.
