Boosting Local Business with AI: ‘Marketing on Tap’ Workshop
The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) is set to host a practical workshop designed to help local entrepreneurs enhance their marketing strategies using artificial intelligence (AI). ‘Marketing on Tap: Learn How to Use AI to Draft Better Content’ is scheduled for May 20 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Brew Bridge in Owensboro.
This hands-on event, in partnership with the Kentucky Small Business Development Center (KY SBDC) and other collaborators, aims to make AI tools accessible and understandable for small business owners. The focus will be on applying AI, particularly ChatGPT, in real-world marketing scenarios. “Understanding and adopting AI is no longer optional for small businesses; it’s imperative,” emphasized Claude Bacon, President and CEO of GOEDC. “We’re excited to host an event that not only teaches practical tools but does so in a fun, community-centered space.”
Expert Insights and Practical Training
The workshop will kick off with an overview of AI by Jody Hulsey, Center Director and Business Coach at KY SBDC. “AI doesn’t have to be intimidating,” Hulsey explained. “This training is all about helping people see how tools like ChatGPT can simplify what they’re already doing, making content creation faster, smarter, and more effective.”
Following the AI introduction, a panel discussion featuring local business owners who are already leveraging AI in their marketing strategies will provide valuable insights and practical examples. Participants will then enjoy a catered lunch from The Brew Bridge before diving into a ChatGPT training session led by Drew Hardesty, President of Wonder Boy Media. “We use AI every day to help streamline our creative process, and we’re excited to share what’s working,” Hardesty said. “Whether you’re drafting social posts, emails, or video content, there are smart ways to use these tools without losing your brand’s voice.”
Networking and Community Engagement
The workshop will conclude with a tasting hosted by The Brew Bridge and an open networking session, providing attendees with opportunities to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and industry experts. Tickets for the event are priced at $10, inclusive of training, lunch, and all materials. With limited space available, early registration is strongly encouraged. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, May 5, at 8 a.m. and can be purchased online at marketingontap.eventbrite.com.
