The event was held in a college basketball arena and live-streamed internationally for virtual attendees. The production featured live performances, messages from senior executives, and more, requiring significant audio, video, and intercom support.
Creative Technology turned to Pliant Technologies for professional wireless intercom solutions to ensure seamless communications for this large-scale project. The venue presented a challenge due to its complex layout, including the main bowl and a maze of back hallways for production personnel. Chuck ‘Chopper’ Boyle, Audio Engineer at Creative Technology, noted that Pliant’s CrewCom system was deployed with two CrewCom Control Units, one 8-port Copper Hub, nine Radio Transceivers, and 28 Radio Packs.

The system provided multichannel flexibility and versatility in frequency band offerings, operating in both 900MHz and 2.4GHz ranges. This was crucial as the 1.9 band couldn’t support all the requirements. Chopper praised Pliant’s system for handling the quantity and complexity of wireless comms requested, including various channels such as point-to-point and conferences. The system’s ability to handle program audio and track cues was also vital.
