Manvel Mayor to Trump: Embrace AI Data Centers
In a letter to the editor, Manvel Mayor Dan Davis addressed President Donald Trump, urging him to support the expansion of AI infrastructure in Texas. He argues that the state should embrace the opportunities presented by the rapid growth of AI and data centers.

Davis lauded the announcement of the Stargate project, which promises billions in investment and thousands of jobs to develop AI infrastructure in Texas. He sees this as proof of Texas’ business-friendly policies, including low taxes, strong infrastructure, and its commitment to economic growth. Davis believes that the state is well-positioned to benefit from the rise of data centers and AI-driven industries.
Davis acknowledged concerns about the strain on the electric grid, but argues these are opportunities for market-driven solutions, such as local power generation and grid modernization. He believes that innovation, not overregulation, is the key to balancing growth with grid stability.
He urges regulators to encourage private investments in power generation, which he believes reduces strain on the grid and ensures reliable energy. Davis concluded by expressing his belief that by embracing data center expansion and smart energy solutions, Texas can secure a prosperous future and remain a leader in economic and technological growth.
Other Letters
In addition to the letter from Manvel, the “Letters to the Editor” section also included perspectives on school bonds and vehicle inspections.
Regarding the school bonds, Connie Byers, a retired Spring Branch ISD teacher and long-time resident, expressed her support for all four school bond proposals on the 2025 ballot. She believes that voting for only some would unfairly favor one sport over another. Byers noted that extra-curricular activities are paramount in a good K-12 academic education.
Michael Ryan wrote about the recently scrapped annual vehicle inspections. He expressed his gratitude for the change, highlighting the money he saved in repairs this year.
