Tech Giants Commit to Boosting Nuclear Energy
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Several prominent technology companies have announced their commitment to significantly increase the world’s nuclear energy capacity. The pledge, made during CERAWeek 2025, an annual energy conference, aims to triple the world’s nuclear capacity by 2050. According to the World Nuclear Association, the initiative reflects a growing interest in nuclear power across various industries.

Among the companies signing the pledge are Amazon, Meta, and Google, along with 14 major global banks, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America.
The United States is among 25 nations backing the pledge, alongside Canada, France, and the United Kingdom.
“We are proud to sign a pledge in support of tripling nuclear capacity by 2050, as nuclear power will be pivotal in building a reliable, secure, and sustainable energy future,” Google stated. The company added, “Google will continue to work alongside our partners to accelerate the commercialization of advanced nuclear technologies that can provide the around-the-clock clean energy necessary to meet growing electricity demand around the world.”
Meta also expressed its support for the initiative. “As global economies expand, the need for a reliable, clean, and resilient energy supply is paramount,” the company said. “Nuclear energy, with its ability to provide continuous power, can help meet this rising demand. We’re excited to join alongside this multi-organizational effort with the Tripling Nuclear Pledge to reiterate our commitment to nuclear energy.”
Pledge organizers anticipate more companies to join the movement in the coming months. They noted the growing interest in nuclear power spans diverse sectors such as maritime, aviation, chemical, and oil & gas industries.
