Microsoft’s Satya Nadella Intrigued by ‘Crennis’: A Sport Blending Cricket and Tennis
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has shown interest in a new hybrid sport called ‘Crennis,’ a combination of cricket and tennis, after seeing a playful video featuring cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

The video, shared by Tendulkar on the social media platform X, showcased the two engaging in the sport. Nadella responded to the video, expressing his interest, saying, “Looks like I found my next sport! I look forward to trying my hand at Crennis with you both,” tagging both Gates and Tendulkar.
In the video, Gates humorously remarks, “I thought we were playing tennis,” as Tendulkar stands with a tennis racket. Tendulkar then clarifies, “Bill, I said Crennis—a little bit of cricket and a little bit of tennis.” The pair then enjoyed a lighthearted match, with Tendulkar using the street cricket rule “One tip, one hand—Gully Crennis”, calling Gates “out”. Gates was also seen reading a book titled Rules of Crennis.
The video concludes with Gates asking if they should “Call it even?” to which Tendulkar replies, “Done.” They then share vada pav, a popular Mumbai snack. The post’s caption mentions that although Crennis was fun, the real action is brewing with Sachin Tendulkar Foundation and Gates Foundation.
In an earlier post, Gates shared a similar video, where he and Tendulkar were seen enjoying vada pav, with the caption “Serving soon,” hinting at a future project. No other details are available about the venture at present. The collaboration suggests a potential partnership between the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation and the Gates Foundation.
