Microsoft is set to roll out several new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features for its Copilot Plus PCs, including Recall, Click to Do, and an improved Windows Search function. These updates aim to deliver unmatched AI experiences to users.
Recall (Preview)
Recall is a feature designed to help users quickly rediscover apps, websites, images, or documents by retracing their digital activity. This feature simplifies the process of locating past work or browsing sessions by allowing users to scroll through a timeline or search using simple descriptions. According to Microsoft, Recall can reduce retrieval time by up to 70%. The feature operates locally on the device, with robust privacy controls in place to ensure that user data remains secure, encrypted, and is never shared with Microsoft or third parties.
Click to Do (Preview)
The Click to Do feature offers quick, contextual shortcuts for various actions such as summarizing, rewriting, copying text, or editing images directly from the screen. Users can activate this feature by pressing “Win” + “Click”, swiping right on touchscreens, or using icons in tools like Start and Snipping Tool. This functionality streamlines workflows by enabling users to interact with content instantly. While image-related actions are already available, text actions are initially rolling out to Snapdragon X series devices, with support for AMD and Intel devices to follow.
Improved Windows Search
The enhanced Windows Search functionality enables users to find images, documents, or settings by describing them in natural language, eliminating the need to recall exact file names. Powered by a local neural processing unit (NPU), it delivers faster and more intuitive results by understanding context. Microsoft claims that this feature can reduce search time by up to 70% compared to traditional Windows 10 search methods.
Availability of New Features
These exclusive features for Copilot Plus PCs are included in the April 2025 Windows non-security preview update. Microsoft will begin rolling them out over the next month through a controlled feature rollout (CFR) to consumers.
