Microsoft CSP Changes Create Opportunity for MSPs, Giacom Says

Microsoft CSP Shake-Up Presents Growth Opportunity for MSPs, Says Giacom

Specialist cloud marketplace provider Giacom has responded to Microsoft’s recently announced changes to the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program with a commitment to support affected partners through a smooth transition. On May 1st, Microsoft informed its partner network that from October 1st, 2025, it will raise the annual revenue threshold required to maintain a direct relationship from just over $300,000 to $1 million. This change is expected to significantly impact MSPs, many of whom will need to shift from a direct to an indirect model, potentially affecting billing, support access, and program eligibility.

Giacom is encouraging affected providers to make early contact through a dedicated onboarding pathway, backed by technical and commercial teams understanding the operational and financial implications of this change. The company’s automation tools and bespoke setup options help replicate existing workflows, ensuring seamless migrations and uninterrupted internal systems. Giacom’s deep relationships across Microsoft’s commercial, partner, and product teams provide partners with greater visibility, access to go-to-market resources, strategic funding, and influence over roadmap decisions.

“Microsoft’s new CSP rules will present challenges for some partners, but they don’t have to be disruptive,” said Oliver Gardner, Head of Microsoft Alliances at Giacom. “This change represents a valuable opportunity not just to meet new requirements but to streamline operations, boost profitability, and expand Microsoft-based service offerings. By moving into the indirect channel, partners can immediately access a richer set of resources, support structures, and routes into Microsoft programs they may not have had before.”

Following its acquisition of intY in December 2023, Giacom became the UK’s largest provider of Microsoft licenses to SMBs. The company supports thousands of MSPs in building scalable, profitable Microsoft practices through a channel-only model prioritizing partner success, recurring revenue, and long-term growth. Partners can provision Microsoft cloud services alongside cyber security, communications, and connectivity solutions through a single platform, streamlining procurement and simplifying operations.

“This isn’t just about compliance; it’s about creating conditions for long-term success,” Gardner added. “With our partner-first approach, broad vendor ecosystem, and specialist technical and commercial guidance, we’re offering more than a route to market – we’re offering a platform for future-ready growth.”

MSPs affected by the changes are encouraged to contact Giacom early to explore their options and assess how moving to an indirect model could support future growth.
