Microsoft has responded to allegations that its Azure and AI technologies were used by the Israeli military to harm civilians in Gaza. The company conducted internal and external reviews and stated, “We have found no evidence to date that Microsoft’s Azure and AI technologies have been used to target or harm people in the conflict in Gaza.” Microsoft maintains a commercial relationship with the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) but found no evidence that this relationship violated their terms of use or code of conduct. However, the company acknowledged limited visibility into how customers use their software on their own servers or devices. Microsoft emphasized that neither Azure nor their AI technology has been used to harm people in Gaza according to their findings.
