Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) has received an additional $45,000 from Microsoft to support its Microsoft Technology Scholarship program, building on an initial $25,000 investment made in 2023. This funding, provided through Microsoft’s Datacenter Community Development Charitable Giving Program, represents a multi-year commitment to supporting students in North Central Washington.
Rachel Evey, Executive Director of the WVC Foundation, expressed gratitude for Microsoft’s continued investment, stating, “This scholarship not only removes financial barriers for students pursuing careers in technology but also helps ensure that more people have equitable access to education and opportunity in this vital industry.”
The Microsoft Technology Scholarship will provide financial assistance for tuition, books, and program-related expenses to eligible students from Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, and Grant counties who are enrolled in WVC’s Computer Technology Systems (CTS) or Business Computer Technology (BCT) programs. Preference will be given to students from communities underrepresented in STEM fields.
The CTS program prepares students for careers as computer support technicians, network administrators, and security specialists, with coursework aligned to industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA). The BCT program trains students for entry-level business and technology roles, offering a one-year certificate or two-year associate degree.
The scholarship will be available during the WVC Foundation’s Fall 2025 application cycle. Microsoft’s charitable giving program focuses on building local leadership and supporting community initiatives.
