Microsoft Expert Discusses Zero Trust Security Challenges for Government
Ian Leatherman, a Zero Trust Strategist at Microsoft, recently discussed the challenges government agencies encounter when establishing a zero-trust environment. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive understanding of the digital landscape, extending beyond traditional network perimeters.
Leatherman highlighted the crucial role of artificial intelligence in fortifying architectural vulnerabilities. He indicated that AI can employ visual recognition and attack mapping to triage systems and enhance security efforts.
We need to move beyond perimeter-based security and truly understand all components of our digital environments in order to create a more secure government.
Furthermore, Leatherman addressed the potential impact of 6G wireless communications. He stated that although 6G may improve data connectivity, it will not fundamentally alter the core principles of zero-trust architecture, which presumes all networks are potentially compromised.
