Microsoft’s Noida Hub: A Milestone for UP, Says CM Yogi Adityanath
Noida: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Microsoft’s new research and development facility in Sector 145, hailing it as a significant achievement for both Noida and the broader region of North India. The CM praised Microsoft chairperson Satya Nadella for enhancing the company’s presence in North India and noted that the tech giant’s investment in Uttar Pradesh underscores the state’s appeal to businesses.

Adityanath emphasized that the center, built on 15 acres, would not only generate employment opportunities but also open up new paths for young people in the field of technology.
“The Noida centre will be Microsoft’s largest R&D facility outside its Indian headquarters, boosting the technical ecosystem and contributing to artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. It will help realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a digitally empowered nation,” Adityanath stated. He also inaugurated an AI engineering center of MAQ Software and Sify Infinit Spaces Ltd’s Sector 132 campus.
Microsoft plans to invest Rs 1,800 crore in its Sector 145 center, creating employment opportunities for over 3,500 people. The proposed campus, with a built-up area of 1.1 million sqft, will serve as a hub for advancements in AI, cloud technology, and security, further solidifying Microsoft’s presence in India. The Noida Authority had allotted land to the tech giant in 2021.
Over the last eight years, the UP government has reshaped the state’s economic and industrial landscape under the Prime Minister’s “reform, perform, and transform” vision, Adityanath said. “With the largest population share in the country, UP progressed rapidly through ease of doing business and the Nivesh Mitra portal, paving the way for AI, 5G, 6G, drone technology, blockchain, wireless communication, and medical technology,” he added.
UP currently holds a 65% share in mobile phone manufacturing and 55% in electronic components. The CM added that Noida and Greater Noida have developed into significant electronics hubs and have integrated AI into governance, leading to reduced corruption and greater transparency.
The state has also initiated digital governance through e-PoS machines in villages and distributed smartphones and tablets to 50 lakh students under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana. Adityanath also referenced the recent Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which attracted approximately 66 crore pilgrims, and commended his team for its efficient management utilizing AI.
Following the event, Adityanath inaugurated a 600-bed super-specialty hospital, Sharda Care Health City, which spans 65 acres and includes a level 1 trauma center, over 160 ICU beds, and 24 modular operation theaters. Officials stated that its 60-bed emergency and trauma care center was established in collaboration with SingHealth of Singapore. Adityanath noted that UP had only 12 medical colleges before 2017, but has since built 40 more. While the private sector added 37, three hospitals are operating on a PPP model.
“The government is working toward registering ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, ANM, home guards, jawans, and chowkidars under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is worth Rs 5 lakh. Gautam Budh Nagar is set to become an important AI-based center in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
“Money is not a factor for better medical facilities. Various schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, CM and PM relief funds, CM Jan Arogya Yojna, and those for government employees, support health costs. However, improved infrastructure and centers remain essential,” he added.
