Taking control of presentations on Microsoft Teams is about to get a whole lot smoother. Microsoft has announced a new feature in development that will allow multiple users to control slides during meetings and calls.
In a recent Microsoft 365 updates blog post, the company revealed that meeting or event hosts will be able to share slide control with other presenters. This should help eliminate the need for manual slide advancement and, hopefully, the ubiquitous phrase, “next slide, please.”
The feature is expected to launch in May 2025, initially for Windows desktop users. Microsoft aims to enhance the flow of presentations during meetings and webinars. The specifics of how this feature will work remain somewhat vague, but it’s likely the meeting host will configure the settings. It will probably require some form of authentication or pre-selection of the users who will have slide control.
This update builds on Microsoft’s recent improvements to Teams. The company recently launched real-time text (RTT) capabilities, allowing participants to type messages while someone else’s speech is being transcribed. This gives users who prefer typing another way to communicate during calls.
