Noida, India – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony for Microsoft’s upcoming Research and Development (R&D) center in Noida’s Sector 145. This new facility is poised to become Microsoft’s largest R&D center outside of its Redmond headquarters, marking a significant investment in the region.
The project, spanning 15 acres, is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, benefiting residents of Noida and nearby districts. The center, officially named the India Development Centre, will encompass a built-up area of 1.1 million square feet.
Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the significance of Microsoft’s decision, stating that it confirms Noida’s emergence as a prime investment destination.
The collaboration between the Uttar Pradesh government and Microsoft will prioritize research in advanced technologies and economic development, with a focus on establishing India as an AI-first nation. The new facility will concentrate on advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and security, thereby expanding Microsoft’s presence in India.
Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director and President of Microsoft IDC, emphasized the company’s dedication to responsible AI innovation to empower communities, businesses, and citizens. The center aims to attract top talent from both India and abroad, fostering innovation across AI, cloud, and security. Microsoft’s IDC is expected to accelerate digital transformation, promote AI skill development, and strengthen the partnership with Uttar Pradesh. Microsoft also has significant development centers in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
