Microsoft has enhanced its Copilot AI tool, offering users unlimited access to its Voice and Think Deeper features. This update, announced on Wednesday, aims to significantly improve Copilot’s capabilities by extending voice interactions and enhancing its reasoning for complex inquiries.
The Voice feature now allows for extended spoken conversations with Copilot. Users can utilize this for various practical applications like practicing a new language, preparing for job interviews, or receiving hands-free guidance while cooking.
Think Deeper, powered by OpenAI’s o1 model, is designed to tackle complicated problems needing advanced reasoning. Users can employ it for tasks such as evaluating major purchases, assessing the financial implications of home renovations, or making strategic career decisions. For example, Microsoft suggests prompts like comparing electric cars based on design and longevity, determining the best home improvement investments, or weighing the benefits of buying a generator for areas prone to power outages.

This expansion comes in direct response to increased user demand. Microsoft acknowledges that previous usage limits were a common issue. The company is working to provide broad access to these advanced features while focusing on security and preventing misuse. However, Microsoft cautions that users might still experience delays or temporary interruptions during times of high demand or in cases of policy violations.
In addition to these free features, Microsoft continues to offer its Copilot Pro subscription. Paid users will retain priority access to the most recent AI models during peak usage times, receive early access to experimental features, and gain additional functionality within Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Microsoft has invited users to provide feedback on Copilot’s capabilities, stating that user input will help refine and improve the AI tool further. The company has not specified the exact timeline for the new features to become universally available, but indicated that scaling up access is a high priority.
