Miles College to Host AI Yard Fest: A Groundbreaking Event in Tech Innovation
Fairfield, AL – [October 28, 2024] – Miles College is gearing up to host the AI Yard Fest, an event powered by Latimer.ai. This event will serve as a platform to connect leading voices in technology, business, and education with the next generation of tech professionals and entrepreneurs, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity. The event, scheduled for November 7, beginning at 11 AM, will be held on the Miles College campus, specifically inside the Kirkendoll Learning Resources Center. The focus will be on artificial intelligence, its innovative applications, and the opportunities for underrepresented community entrepreneurs in the technology sector.

At the forefront of this initiative is the 2150 Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Growth, an organization dedicated to fostering the development of promising companies through aligned curriculum, mentorship, and investment. The center operates at the intersection of purpose and prosperity and is committed to reshaping the narrative of innovation within Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The 2150 Center strives to drive the success of minority-owned businesses, aiming to make a significant impact both locally and on the global stage by empowering underrepresented communities through education and entrepreneurial ventures.
Latimer.ai, a leading force in AI education and innovation, will be a key participant. They are known for providing advanced solutions and empowering institutions to integrate AI seamlessly into their curricula. Further enriching the event will be the participation of Black Girls CODE, an organization focused on fostering a sense of belonging in Black girls, equipping them with the necessary skills, resources, and opportunities to excel in the tech industry. Together, these organizations will be the central features of the AI Yard Fest, highlighting their shared commitment to advancing diversity in technology and preparing students for the AI-driven industries of the future.
HBCU Cares, dedicated to offering resources and support to historically Black colleges and universities, is another proud partner. Their involvement underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to broaden access to technology for underrepresented communities in technology.
According to 2150 CEO & Founder In Residence Erskine “Chuck” Faush, “The Al Fest will educate those who are curious and cautious of Al, support those who need guidance on its practical uses, and empower those with ideas that could transform the tech space.” The event will also champion underrepresented companies as a collaborator to drive local and global impact.
