MWC often showcases intriguing concepts, but sometimes practicality takes a backseat. Thankfully, Motorola and Lenovo are stepping up to deliver more useful innovation.
Motorola’s Moto AI and Smart Connect features are being combined in a new update designed to make Moto and Lenovo devices, alongside Windows PCs, work together more efficiently. Considering users could already use Smart Connect to run Motorola phone apps on Windows and easily transfer files, this is a significant promise.

Firstly, Moto AI now enables casting files or videos to external screens via voice commands. This seems like a considerably simpler solution than navigating a specific casting menu, making the feature more user-friendly and convenient.
Also, AI Search has been added. This natural language search tool is designed to help find saved files on the Yoga Tab Plus (16GB). It’s disappointing that this feature currently seems restricted to this specific model. Search tools like this can be incredibly useful for quickly locating information known to be stored on a device but difficult to find manually.
Lastly, the Smart Connect mobile app has a redesigned dashboard. This overview displays all of a user’s Moto AI-enabled devices, including phones, PCs, Moto Tag trackers, and Moto Buds earbuds, and lets users adjust their settings from a single location.
Motorola states this new functionality is offered to all Android users through a new third-party integration option. While specific details are not provided, the implication is that users can still access some of these features even when using Moto accessories with non-Moto devices.
The updated Smart Connect is compatible with any Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC. The mobile version will function on selected Motorola devices and Lenovo tablets, though the specific models haven’t been confirmed. Downloads will be available via the Microsoft Store or Google Play Store in the coming weeks.
