Neptune Medical has announced an expanded collaboration with Nvidia to bring artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to its gastrointestinal (GI) robotic system. This partnership aims to leverage Nvidia’s Isaac for Healthcare, an AI robotics development platform specifically designed to enhance the AI-driven features of robotic systems.
According to a press release, this collaboration aligns with Nvidia’s focus on AI and provides Neptune Medical with access to an advanced digital twin framework. This framework enables highly accurate simulations of sensors, human anatomy, and physiological processes, crucial for medical innovation.
The announcement was made during Nvidia’s GTC 2025 event in San Jose, California, and was one of several medtech AI announcements this week. Neptune Medical, a company focusing on gastrointestinal solutions, is expanding into robotics. Its push into this area is strengthened by the recent appointment of Dr. Fred Moll, a prominent figure in surgical robotics, as the chair of the board.
“Building the next generation of intelligent GI robotics requires robust AI-driven simulation,” said Alex Tilson, founder and CEO of Neptune Medical. “By utilizing Nvidia Isaac for Healthcare, we can accelerate the development, validation, and commercialization of our GI robotic systems with highly enabling capabilities, ensuring that they operate with unparalleled precision and safety in real-world settings.”
Neptune Medical joins other companies such as Moon Surgical and Virtual Incision in incorporating Nvidia’s Isaac platform into their robotic systems. Nvidia, a leader in AI computing, has a history of working with medtech companies to integrate AI into their technologies. Johnson & Johnson MedTech announced last year a plan to accelerate and expand AI for surgery in collaboration with Nvidia. In March 2024, GE HealthCare and Nvidia partnered to bring AI to ultrasound technology. Asensus Surgical teamed up with Nvidia in 2023 to provide surgeons novel clinical intelligence in surgical robotics. Furthermore, Medtronic has partnered with Nvidia to enable an AI Access platform, boosting the capabilities of the GI Genius intelligent endoscopy module. This week, Hyperfine announced a deal with Nvidia to leverage its AI in neuroimaging.
