British Columbia’s leading startup competition, the New Ventures BC Competition, is back for its 2025 edition. Presented by Innovate BC, the competition is now accepting applications from early-stage tech companies eager to compete for over $250,000 in cash and prizes.
This marks the competition’s 25th year, a significant milestone. Since 2000, it has served as a vital launching pad for numerous promising BC tech startups. More than 4,200 companies have participated since the competition began, collectively receiving mentorship, valuable resources, and over $4 million in funding to help them scale their businesses.
Last year’s competition saw a robust 217 startups enter the field, with Vancouver-based TIMEZYX ultimately taking home the top prize. Past participants continue to gain global recognition. Ionomr Innovations, a finalist in 2016, and pH7 Technologies, a 2021 finalist, were both recently named to the prestigious Global Cleantech 100 List. Demonstrating the impact of the competition, VoxCell BioInnovation, which won third place in 2022, went on to win Collision’s final PITCH competition, besting more than 550 competitors.
The competition spans six months and involves multiple elimination rounds, providing startups with valuable mentorship, networking opportunities, and educational sessions designed to foster growth. Finalists will vie for the top prizes, and winners will be announced later this year. The 2025 competition is also part of the Road to Web Summit, a series of events leading up to Web Summit Vancouver.
Interested startups must submit their applications by March 31, 2025.
