Game Details and New ‘Escape’ Section Revealed for No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES
Spike Chunsoft, Inc. has announced details about the game system and new ‘Escape’ section in No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, a detective adventure/puzzle game scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, in North America and Europe for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.
The game features three distinct sections: Investigation, Somnium, and the newly added Escape section. Each section has a different playable character, and players will switch between these sections as the story progresses.
Investigation Section
In the Investigation section, players control protagonist Kaname Date as he investigates the disappearance of Iris. The gameplay involves visiting real-world locations, examining crime scenes, and questioning witnesses. Date uses his AI-equipped prosthetic eye, ‘AI-Ball,’ to uncover crucial clues.
Somnium Section
The Somnium section is a defining feature of the series. Here, players control Aiba in a female humanoid form, entering a witness’s dream world using the ‘Psync’ machine. The goal is to uncover hidden memories within a six-minute time limit. The dream world follows its own rules, shaped by the subject’s personality and memories, and players must navigate ‘mental locks’ to access deeper memories.
Escape Section
In the new Escape section, players control Iris, who is trapped in a locked room. The objective is to solve puzzles and find a way out. Players will receive hints through conversations with Kaname Date and Aiba. The section requires careful examination of objects and items in the room, using a first-person perspective to uncover clues. Some items may need to be combined to unlock their true potential.
Pre-orders are now open for collaboration merchandise based on the previous title, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES – nirvanA Initiative, through the Village Vanguard Online Store until May 10, 2025. The merchandise includes items like T-shirts, tote bags, and new plushies, with a total of 15 items available.
