NVIDIA to Produce AI Supercomputers Entirely in US

Tech giant NVIDIA announced plans to produce artificial intelligence supercomputers entirely in the United States for the first time, utilizing chips manufactured in Arizona. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated in a press release, “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time.” He added that incorporating American manufacturing would help meet the growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthen their supply chain, and enhance their resiliency.

The production process involves Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) producing NVIDIA’s Blackwell superchips at its factory complex in north Phoenix, Arizona. Amkor and Siliconware Precision Industries Co., Ltd. (SPIL) will partner with NVIDIA on the packaging and testing of these chips. The AI supercomputers are expected to be ramped up at plants in Houston and Dallas over the next 12-15 months. These supercomputers are specifically designed for a new type of data center focused solely on processing artificial intelligence.
