Pakistan Crypto Council Key to Pakistan’s Digital Future: Finance Minister Aurangzeb
Islamabad, March 22, 2025 – Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the pivotal role of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) in guiding the nation’s advancement in digital assets and blockchain technology at the council’s inaugural meeting on Friday.
During the Islamabad gathering, Aurangzeb stated that the PCC would act as a centralized platform. It will bring together regulators and industry stakeholders. The goal is to create a dependable and forward-thinking regulatory structure for cryptocurrencies.
He underscored the government’s dedication to building a transparent, future-ready financial system. This aims to attract investment, empower the youth, and position Pakistan as a prominent player in emerging technologies.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding on the necessity of a cautious approach to blockchain and cryptocurrencies to protect economic stability. Simultaneously, the country seeks to maximize the potential of digital assets.
Earlier this month, the federal government officially launched the PCC, according to a Finance Division statement. The Council’s mission is to regulate and integrate blockchain technology and digital assets into the nation’s financial structure. This announcement followed the appointment of Bilal bin Saqib as Chief Advisor to the Finance Minister for the council.
Formed with government backing, the PCC is designed to regulate, foster, and incorporate innovations in blockchain and cryptocurrency into Pakistan’s economy. In a statement, the Finance Division described the council’s formation as a vital move. It is a key measure in the country’s effort to embrace digital finance, which will position Pakistan to be a key player in the global move toward blockchain technology.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will lead the council. Joining him on the immediate board are the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Federal Law Secretary, and the Federal IT Secretary.
