Pearson and AWS Broaden Partnership to Transform Learning with AI
LONDON, February 28, 2025 – Pearson, the global learning company, and Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company, have announced an expanded collaboration to accelerate the delivery of AI-powered learning experiences. This partnership aims to enhance learning for millions worldwide by leveraging cloud and AI tools to personalize education and provide real-time insights. The initiative emphasizes the importance of adapting the workforce through continual upskilling and career development.
“As technology transforms the way we learn, improving people’s ability to learn is vital for an adaptive workforce. With the help of AWS, Pearson will be able to get there faster.” — Omar Abbosh, CEO, Pearson
This work is crucial because recent research suggests that inefficient career transitions and learning gaps cost the U.S. economy $1.1 trillion annually. AWS, a leading cloud platform, will continue supporting Pearson’s strategic initiatives to create innovative learning experiences.
Pearson plans to increase its use of AWS’s cloud infrastructure and Amazon Bedrock. This will improve learning across higher education, virtual schools, and English-language learning products.
By integrating Amazon Bedrock with Pearson’s expertise and data, the collaboration seeks to:
- Enhance courseware and content experiences
- Provide educators with AI-powered lesson generation, assessments, and insights
- Enable faster and more visually rich content creation
AWS and Amazon will also extend their collaboration with Pearson to support workforce skilling efforts, building on existing programs such as GEDWorks, where individuals can earn their GED credential, and Credly by Pearson, the company’s digital credential platform. Additionally, AWS will continue collaborating with Pearson VUE, which delivers AWS certifications for cloud technology professionals.
Key areas of the partnership include:
- Optimizing learning products
- Scaling cloud training and credentialing programs
- Innovating in clinical and professional assessments, enterprise learning, and English Language Learning
“We’re excited to expand our long-standing collaboration with Pearson to unlock the power of cloud and AI for learners around the world,” said Matt Garman, CEO at AWS. “Together with Pearson, we will leverage the global scale and AI capabilities of AWS to enable innovative new learning experiences that are personalized and accessible for all.”
This collaboration underscores Pearson’s focus on using AI across its products and serving the enterprise learning market. AWS and Pearson aim to empower individuals and organizations to develop essential skills for the future in a fast-changing world.
