    Qiming Venture Aims to Invest Heavily in Chinese AI Sector

    Qiming Venture Partners, a firm with early investments in tech powerhouses such as Meituan and Xiaomi Corp., is looking to inject substantial capital into the burgeoning Chinese AI startup landscape. According to sources familiar with the matter, Qiming is seeking to raise roughly $800 million.

    The move signals a strong belief in the potential of AI within China, with Qiming positioning itself to support the next generation of innovative tech companies. The fundraising efforts are reportedly targeting a cap of $1 billion.

    The plans are currently in their preliminary stages and could be subject to change, the sources noted, requesting anonymity due to the private nature of the information. A representative for Qiming declined to provide a comment on the matter.

    Qiming Venture Partners, led by Founding Managing Partners Gary Rieschel and Duane Kuang, is a prominent player in the venture capital space. The firm’s investment strategy has consistently focused on identifying and nurturing promising technology companies.
