Ripple CEO Claims SEC Will Drop Appeal Against Crypto Firm

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19, 2025 – Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced on social media platform X that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will drop its appeal against the crypto firm.

This decision would bring an end to the legal proceedings that began in 2020. The SEC had sued Ripple, alleging the company offered unregistered securities.

“This is it – the moment we’ve been waiting for,” Garlinghouse posted on X, further adding that the SEC’s move was “a resounding victory” for Ripple and the cryptocurrency industry.

Ripple is the company backing XRP, the third-largest crypto token by market capitalization, per data from CoinMarketCap.
