Gulf County, Fla. – December 2, 2024 – Skyborne Technology and Atlantic Industrial Group Inc. (AIG) have announced a collaborative venture to establish a new advanced manufacturing facility in Wewahitchka, Florida. The facility will be located at Skyborne’s existing site and will focus on producing high-efficiency drone models, specifically those with Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) capabilities.
AIG will leverage innovative manufacturing techniques at the Wewahitchka facility, including large-scale 3D printing, to create components for the drones, such as airframe parts, wing structures, and cockpits. An in-house design center will be established to develop both airships and drones, utilizing lightweight materials to enhance performance.

Skyborne will continue development of its low-altitude, semi-rigid spherical airship at the Wewahitchka location. The partnership will make use of Skyborne’s Costin Airport for flight operations. Infrastructure improvements at the airport, including a new access road and upgrades to water, sewer, and power systems, have been completed with the support of federal and state grants. A future hangar will house the completed aircraft and airships.
Additionally, AIG will be integrating its custom drones with Skyborne’s lighter-than-air platforms to increase functionality for a range of applications. The new facility is expected to create numerous high-paying jobs in areas such as drone fabrication, digital design, and business development, supporting the growing demand for advanced technologies. AIG holds several technology licenses it plans to manufacture for government contracts, as well as for private security purposes, including VTOLs, energy generation systems, and propulsion systems.
“We are thrilled to partner with Skyborne Technology to bring our advanced UAV and SVTOL technologies to the next level,” said Maceo Remy, CRO of AIG. “This venture will not only create new job opportunities in the region but also allows us to meet the growing demand for our modern technologies.”
Jim McKnight, Gulf County Economic Development Director, added, “We are truly excited by the UAV/Skyborne and Atlantic Industrial Group, Inc. partnership and its potential to create aerospace manufacturing jobs at the Gulf County Industrial Park in Wewahitchka and the Costin Airport in Port St. Joe, Florida. The partnership will diversify our economic base, create high-paying jobs, and increase our role in the rapidly growing Northwest Florida aerospace industry.”
Michael Lawson, Skyborne’s CEO, also commented on the collaboration, stating, “We believe this partnership will revolutionize the UAV industry by combining our expertise in lighter-than-air vehicles with AIG’s efficient manufacturing models for their UAV/VTOL drones. We look forward to collaborating with AIG to create new technologies that will benefit both the government and civilian sectors worldwide.”
