Earlier this week, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center (TBIC) in Pinellas County announced its ninth accelerator program for early-stage B2B startups. The program aims to equip the founders of nine companies with specialized training and mentorship in key areas.
The focus will be on customer discovery, product strategy, investor readiness, and market validation. Ken Evans, managing director of the accelerator program, stated that the program is designed to help startup founders master the essential skills necessary for success.
“The TBIC B2B accelerator focuses on the basic blocking and tackling that every tech startup should master. Our program helps founders perform targeted customer discovery, identify their most likely early adopters and develop both a product and go-to-market strategy that puts them on a path to sustainable revenue,” said Evans.
He added that the program seeks founders building products that improve productivity by utilizing emerging technologies.
The participating companies include:
- BluOcean Innovation: a SaaS product for business process optimization and forecasting.
- Depth AI: aimed at reducing human error and streamlining medical imaging for better patient care.
- Job Phaze: providing tools to assist hiring managers with candidate matching.
- Pathogens.ai: developing AI-assisted models for pathogen detection in agricultural labs.
- Perimeter Health: focused on tracking variants of unknown significance (VUS) in genetic testing results.
- Solar Design Lab: working to reduce the cost and delays in the design and engineering of solar systems.
- Tampa Deep Sea: developing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) for research and marine services.
- TECHG-X: identifying risks associated with climate change and weather-related events.
- TerraChat: a SaaS platform for workforce and job management in the landscaping industry.
At the conclusion of the program, the founders will have the opportunity to present their companies to a panel of judges at the Innovation Showcase. The showcase is scheduled for November 2 at the ARK Innovation Center.
The Tampa Bay Innovation Center, a non-profit organization, was established in 2003. The ARK Innovation Center, a 45,000-square-foot facility, opened in St. Petersburg in October 2021.
