Triad Business Journal to Honor NC A&T Alumnus and Company for Diversity Leadership
EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 22, 2025) – The Triad Business Journal (TBJ) has announced that it will honor North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University alumnus Geoff Foster and his company, Core Technology Molding Corp., for their efforts in championing diversity. Foster has been named one of TBJ’s eight 2025 Leaders in Diversity, while Core Technology Molding Corp. is one of two private companies being recognized for Outstanding Diversity & Inclusion.
The awards celebrate individuals and companies that have worked to establish and advance diversity and inclusion efforts in their workplaces and communities. TBJ sought nominations for organizations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to promote equality across all areas of diversity, including age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Foster earned both his B.S. in industrial technology (1990) and M.S. in applied engineering technology (1996) from N.C. A&T’s College of Science and Technology. He later earned an MBA from Wake Forest University. His journey into entrepreneurship began at AMP, where he managed the Ford Motor Co. account and developed a novel solution that earned him a U.S. patent.
In 2006, Foster co-founded Core Technology Molding Corp. with his wife, Tonya, who serves as vice president overseeing human resources and safety. Today, Core Technology is a Tier 1 supplier serving industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to medical devices and pharmaceuticals in over 150 countries. Notably, about 85% of its employees represent minorities.
“We don’t lead with diversity. We lead with quality, cost efficiency, on-time delivery, and a strong safety record,” Foster said. “Customers recognize our diversity, but they come back because we deliver.” Foster emphasized the importance of intentional recruitment strategies, noting that some of their best leaders came from engineering design programs, including several N.C. A&T alumni.
Foster has maintained strong ties with his alma mater, serving as an adjunct professor in A&T’s Department of Applied Engineering Technology and as faculty advisor to the Society of Plastics Engineers. In 2016, he joined the university’s Board of Visitors. Core Technology has been recognized as a STEM partner by Guilford County Schools for offering educational events.
Foster will receive his latest accolades during a June 12 event at N.C. A&T. His previous recognitions include being named Minority Small Business Man of the Year by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce in 2015, receiving A&T’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017, and being honored as Ernst & Young’s Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year in 2020.
