Visitors eagerly lined up to experience cutting-edge technology during the China International Consumer Products Expo 2025, held on April 13. The event showcased various innovations that are blurring the lines between technology and daily life. The exhibition featured ‘air taxis’ in the low-altitude economy zone and ‘tech-powered deep sleep cabins’ at the health tech pavilion, among other futuristic products.
The low-altitude economy zone displayed unmanned drones and flying cars, creating a scene reminiscent of science fiction movies. The EH216-L unmanned aerial vehicle by EHang was a highlight, capable of vertical takeoff and landing without a runway and carrying up to two passengers. EHang COO Wang Zhao discussed its potential applications in tourism, emergency medical transport, and urban traffic congestion relief. “While the low-altitude economy is still in its initial stages, focusing primarily on tourist attractions, its future potential lies in urban and intercity transportation,” Wang explained.
The United Aircraft booth featured the TD550 unmanned helicopter, which attracted logistics companies due to its long endurance and high payload capacity. The rise of the low-altitude economy represents not only technological advancements but also a glimpse into new quality productive forces that will drive economic transformation.
The health consumer zone demonstrated the fusion of technology and wellness. The NutriSleep 6s, a tech-embedded sleep aid device, allowed participants to experience deep relaxation within 15 minutes. AI health management was evident in various exhibits, including OSIM’s massage chair with AI stress-monitoring technology and an AI facial diagnosis robot that combined traditional Chinese face reading theory with machine vision and AI big data technology.
AI’s application in elder care was particularly noteworthy, with China Mobile’s quadruped robot dog equipped with AI visual algorithms to monitor elderly individuals living alone. Keenon’s service robot has been used in the catering and medical fields, with its humanoid robot capable of autonomously performing tasks like meal delivery and guidance.
The expo served as a preview of future living, where AI evolves from a tool to a ‘companion’, and concepts like air taxis and service robots become integral to daily life. This transformation is expected to not only change consumer habits but also give rise to a more inclusive and innovative economic ecosystem.
