Tech Companies Commit to Tripling Nuclear Energy Capacity by 2050
WASHINGTON — Several major technology companies have announced their support for a significant increase in the world’s nuclear energy capacity. The commitment was made during CERAWeek 2025, an annual energy conference where industry leaders discuss and share innovative ideas.

Several companies signed a pledge organized by the World Nuclear Association, which calls for a tripling of global nuclear capacity by 2050. Among the signatories are Amazon, Meta, and Google. In addition, 14 major global banks, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America, also endorsed the pledge. The United States joined 25 other nations, including Canada, France, and the United Kingdom, in supporting the initiative.
“We are proud to sign a pledge in support of tripling nuclear capacity by 2050, as nuclear power will be pivotal in building a reliable, secure, and sustainable energy future,” Google stated in a press release. “Google will continue to work alongside our partners to accelerate the commercialization of advanced nuclear technologies that can provide the around-the-clock clean energy necessary to meet growing electricity demand around the world.”
Meta also emphasized its commitment, stating, “As global economies expand, the need for a reliable, clean, and resilient energy supply is paramount. Nuclear energy, with its ability to provide continuous power, can help meet this rising demand. We’re excited to join alongside this multi-organizational effort with the Tripling Nuclear Pledge to reiterate our commitment to nuclear energy.”
Pledge organizers anticipate further support in the coming months. “The Pledge is expected to gain more support over the coming months, reflecting growing interest in nuclear power from industries as diverse as maritime, aviation, chemical and oil & gas,” they noted.
