Texas Tech Athletics is inviting Red Raider Nation to pack Rocky Johnson Field on Saturday for a free welcome back event celebrating the National Runner-Up softball program’s historic run at the Women’s College World Series. Gates open at 1 p.m. with the team expected to arrive by 2 p.m.
The Red Raiders captured national attention this season with their remarkable journey from a bubble team last year to the pinnacle of college softball in less than a year. With only three returning players from the previous season, Texas Tech developed significantly under head coach Gerry Glasco’s first season. They won the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles, then hosted their first NCAA Regional round.
Texas Tech concluded the season by winning 13 of their final 15 games, defeating WCWS regulars UCLA and Oklahoma along the way. Their historic season ultimately ended with a 10-4 loss to Texas in the deciding game of the WCWS championship series on Friday night.

Admission to the welcome back event is free, and parking is available in the lots surrounding Rocky Johnson Field. The event serves as a celebration of the team’s achievements and a preview of what’s to come in the future.
