Texmaco Rail & Engineering, a key rolling stock and rail infrastructure supplier in India, has entered a memorandum of understanding with Nevomo, a European company specializing in maglev and automation technology. This partnership focuses on the joint development and marketing of innovative rail technologies for the Indian and international markets.
The agreement encompasses several key areas of collaboration. These include the integration of Nevomo’s MagRail Booster technology onto existing railway infrastructure. Additionally, the two companies plan to develop AI-driven track diagnostics systems aimed at predictive maintenance, along with self-propelled, driverless freight wagons. There are also plans to establish a design and innovation center to develop products and services tailored for emerging markets.
Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director of Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, commented on February 27, stating, “By integrating Nevomo’s groundbreaking MagRail technology with Texmaco’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, we are set to revolutionise freight and passenger mobility.” He further explained that ports, mines, and logistics hubs could realize significant throughput gains with relatively modest capital outlays.
This collaboration represents a strategic move to modernize and enhance the efficiency of rail transport, particularly within India’s growing economy. The focus on maglev technology, autonomous systems, and predictive maintenance aligns with global trends towards smarter and more sustainable transportation solutions.
