Ukraine Introduces Innovative Points System for Soldiers
The Ukrainian government has launched a program that rewards soldiers with points for destroying Russian military equipment or eliminating enemy troops. These points can be redeemed through the Brave1 Market, an online platform that offers a wide range of military technology, including drones, robots, and electronic warfare devices.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, announced the initiative, explaining that the Brave1 Market functions like an ‘Amazon’ for military equipment. Ukrainian military units can use their funds or earned points to purchase necessary gear directly from the platform, which features over 1,000 types of equipment from various manufacturers.
The points system is designed to incentivize soldiers, particularly those operating drones on the front lines. The number of points awarded varies depending on the target; for instance, eliminating a Russian soldier earns six points, while destroying a tank is worth 40 points. To verify these actions, units must provide drone footage of the attack, which is then uploaded to a military situational awareness network.
Alex Eine, commander of a drone unit in Ukraine’s Separate Presidential Brigade, confirmed that the points system is most beneficial for soldiers operating small first-person-view (FPV) or bomber drones. Units that conduct more frequent missions have a greater opportunity to accumulate points.
One unit, Magyar’s Birds, has already accumulated over 16,000 points, sufficient to purchase hundreds of drones. The Brave1 Market lists this unit as the top earner of combat points in March. Other high-earning units include the 59th Separate Assault Brigade and the 3rd Separate Special Purpose Regiment.
The Brave1 Market aims to simplify the interaction between developers and the military by providing a transparent platform where units can compare equipment, contact manufacturers, and make purchases directly. This streamlined process is expected to enhance the Ukrainian military’s technological capabilities and operational effectiveness.
