Ukrainian defense technology startup Himera has made its first international sale of tactical radios, providing its communication systems to the U.S. Air Force.
In the fall of 2024, Himera sold its tactical radios outside of Ukraine for the first time, specifically to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), as reported by Defence Blog. This marks a significant step for the company in the global defense communication sector.
“They decided to test our product and assess whether it makes sense to implement our technology on a larger scale within the U.S. military,” the company stated, according to Defence Blog.

In February, Himera announced a partnership with Quantropi, a company specializing in quantum-safe data protection technologies. The partnership involves integrating Quantropi’s quantum-secured encryption into Himera’s G1 PRO tactical radios, R1 repeaters, B1 autonomous repeaters, and E1 Internet extenders.
Under the agreement, Quantropi will be the exclusive distributor of Himera’s products in the U.S. and Canada, with the right to promote them in select NATO markets and among allies. This strategic alliance further strengthens Himera’s position in the international market.
The sale to the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory demonstrates Himera’s potential and positions the Ukrainian company as a new player in the global defense communication sector. With this initial success, Himera is poised to expand its reach and impact in the industry.
