Uridoki, a Japanese c-to-b marketplace specializing in used goods, has appointed Takuma Watanabe as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and director. Watanabe’s appointment was approved during a general shareholders meeting last month, according to a press release.
Watanabe joined the company last year and was conferred upon the company’s directorship this year. After graduating from Keio University, he began his career at Kakaku.com Inc. in 2006 as an infrastructure engineer. In 2008, Watanabe transitioned to Microsoft Japan, where he provided technical support for Windows networks in government agencies and banks.
Over the following decade, Watanabe led IT departments at various companies, overseeing infrastructure migration to public cloud platforms and the development of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. From 2018 onwards, he worked independently, assisting multiple businesses in formulating digital transformation strategies, the hiring announcement stated.
“With Watanabe’s participation, the security level of the public service is expected to be strengthened and the service is expected to become more modern,” Uridoki said. “At the same time, the company will actively promote the implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as AI into its services.”
Founded in 2014, Uridoki reported approximately $152 million U.S. in buyback requests from used goods sellers in 2024. In 2019, the company secured investment through a third-party allotment, including funding from recruitment group DIP Corp.
