Utah-Based SchoolAI Leads the Way in AI Education

SchoolAI, a Utah-based company founded in 2023 by veteran educator Caleb Hicks, has been at the forefront of developing AI tools for educators and students. The platform has been deployed to more than 1 million classrooms worldwide, across all 50 U.S. states and over 80 countries.
The company’s innovative approach to AI in education has been recognized nationally, with a recent executive order from the White House underscoring the importance of AI literacy for students. “The basic idea of this executive order is to ensure that we properly train the workforce of the future by ensuring that school children, young Americans, are adequately trained in AI tools,” said Will Scharf, White House staff secretary.
Empowering Teachers and Students
SchoolAI founder and CEO Caleb Hicks emphasizes that empowering students with AI literacy begins with ensuring teachers are equipped to guide them. “Teachers have to know what the technology is, what it’s good at, what it’s capable of and what it’s not right for,” Hicks said. “Teachers need to learn how to use it responsibly before it goes into students’ hands.”
The platform offers several key features, including:
- Teacher-designed AI ‘Spaces’ that adapt to each student’s interests, learning pace, and style
- Easy-to-use AI assistants for lesson planning, targeted assessments, and personalized feedback
- Support for over 99 languages and real-time text-to-speech and speech-to-text capabilities
- Real-time dashboards to surface actionable data and insights for student support
- Integration with established platforms like Canvas, PowerSchool, and Google Classroom
SchoolAI has seen significant adoption in Utah, with about 80% of school districts currently using the platform. Jordan School District was an early adopter, implementing SchoolAI across all 67 of its schools. “Partnering with SchoolAI has allowed us to introduce a tool in the classroom that provides teachers with valuable insights into their students’ progress,” said Dr. Anthony Godfrey, superintendent of Jordan School District.
Following the White House’s announcement, SchoolAI has launched a free five-week AI readiness program for educators to explore AI-powered tools and professional development.
With a recent $25 million funding boost, SchoolAI is poised to expand its reach and continue developing its innovative platform to support educators and students worldwide.
