VCU Health Launches Advanced Radiation Therapy Machine
VCU Health has introduced southern Virginia’s only radiation therapy machine equipped with Varian HyperSight technology. The new HyperSight TrueBeam machine was officially opened on Wednesday, June 11, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by VCU Health leaders, donors, and local officials.

“We’re taking a major step forward in how we care for patients facing cancer,” said Sheldon Barr, president of VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital. The advanced machine is designed to provide cancer patients across Virginia with more accessible treatment options closer to their homes.

The new radiation therapy machine is located at the Hendrick Cancer and Rehab Center and Solari Radiation Therapy Center in South Hill, Virginia. The project was led by VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center and VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital.
