Vietnam and Austria are stepping up their collaboration in cutting-edge technologies and innovation. The “Austria-Vietnam High Technology and Innovation Forum” is set to take place on May 16, 2025, in Vienna, Austria. This event marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the two nations, organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria in collaboration with the National Innovation Centre (NIC) under Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO).
Key Highlights of the Forum
The forum will serve as a platform for both countries to share their expertise and strengths in technology, innovation, and digital transformation. This initiative aligns with Vietnam’s goal of becoming a developed country with a high income by 2045. It also supports the implementation of Resolution No.57-NQ/TW on science, technology, and innovation, and Resolution No.68-NQ/TW of the Politburo on private economic development.

The event is expected to attract numerous leading corporations from both Austria and Vietnam, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), health technology, semiconductors, and cybersecurity. Some of the participating companies include UNIDO, TTTech, Infineon, Technologies Austria, Siconnnex, Dynatrace, FPT, VNPT, Sovico, and Genetica. Vu Le Thai Hoang, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Austria, highlighted the forum’s importance in implementing technology diplomacy and innovation policies. He noted that the event is strongly supported by WKO, NIC, relevant ministries, technology corporations, universities, and research institutes from both countries. This forum represents the first such event held in Europe to promote information exchange, update policies, and foster connections between Vietnamese and Austrian technology business communities, paving the way for future collaborations and deals.

The country has made significant achievements in semiconductors, AI, and electronics, contributing to the foundation of Industry 4.0. Vo Xuan Hoai, NIC’s deputy director, emphasized the role of the forum in supporting Vietnamese businesses in accessing advanced technology, expanding markets, and attracting high-quality investments. He highlighted the vast potential for Vietnam-Austria cooperation, particularly in technology transfer and development of high-quality human resources, creating added value for both economies.
