Visit Qatar and Microsoft have formalized a partnership aimed at advancing digital innovation within the tourism sector. An official memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the Web Summit Qatar 2025. Engineer Abdulaziz Ali al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, and Lana Khalaf, Microsoft’s country manager, spearheaded the agreement.
This collaboration builds on the success of Visit Qatar’s GenAI Travel Concierge, which utilizes Microsoft Azure and OpenAI 4o and 4o mini. The partnership intends to explore the next generation of technologies to further enhance visitor experiences and transform operational efficiency.
Visit Qatar’s Smart Travel Assistant has already established itself as a notable achievement in digital tourism. It provides a user-friendly interface integrating text, voice, content, conversational artificial intelligence (AI), mapping, and interactive planning features.
This collaboration with Microsoft is designed to create a comprehensive technology roadmap, bringing smart and digital solutions to significantly improve the traveler’s experience. Visit Qatar’s dedication to technological innovation earned it several accolades in 2024. The platform received the Microsoft AI Excellence Award for the Visit Qatar GenAI Chatbot Trip Concierge, along with two Mena Digital Awards: a Gold award for Best Application (Mobile/Tablet) and a Silver award for Best Web Platform.
The Visit Qatar’s GenAI Chatbot Trip Concierge is changing travel planning. Available on the Visit Qatar website and app, this AI-powered travel companion produces customized itineraries and provides insights in over 50 languages, offering a seamless and inclusive experience for all travelers.
